FAQs

What type of injuries and conditions do you treat?

At our clinic, we treat all forms of soft tissue injury and pain. Please see “About our Therapies”. We focus on the various forms of sport related injuries such as tendinitis, bursitis, sprains as well as headaches, whiplash, and associated dysfunctions. We also treat repetitive strain syndromes, including jaw (tmj syndrome), low back pain, stress related pain, fibromyalgia and  pre and post natal conditions.

Will treatments be painful?

Registered Massage Therapists are trained to assess and treat each individual’s presenting condition. We take into account your history, age, tissue type, pain tolerance, expectation of the treatment and previous massage experience before we begin a session. We respect where you are right now. Therefore, each and every session is geared towards your needs at the time of the treatment and what you can tolerate based on your feedback. We do not believe in “the no pain, no gain” program.

What is your availability?

We encourage you to schedule an appointment a week to two weeks in advance. At times there are same day bookings available due to cancellations. The therapists will often suggest booking a few appointments in advance to ensure a proper therapeutic response in the body. It may have taken years or decades for these problems to develop therefore it must be appreciated that your process of healing may require a series of treatment sessions. It is common to treat a condition for up to 6 sessions or more before critically reassessing the results and treatment goals.

Available Monday – Saturday, 8:00am – 8:00pm by appointment only

Do I need to get undressed for my treatment?

Direct skin contact is best as we will need to apply oil or lotion. Direct skin contact also allows us to accurately palpate/ feel changes within the tissues (skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia) so that we may be more effective and efficient in our treatments. We respect each individual’s personal comfort zone and have been trained to drape the body to ensure a person’s privacy and comfort. If you would like, you can wear a pair of sport shorts and top and it is possible to do a session with clothes on if requested. Whatever will make you most comfortable is the policy at our clinic.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Our goal is to provide you with quality therapeutic massage care. In order to do this, we have allocated time with a therapist specifically for you. Appointments are in high demand, so if for some reason you cannot make your time, we would appreciate 24 hours notice. This allows us time to reallocate that appointment time to someone else in need of treatment. Obviously, unforeseen circumstances happen that may be beyond your control and we will take this into account, otherwise, you will be responsible for the full treatment fee for a missed appointment. (See fee schedule.)

Does my extended healthcare cover your treatments?

The majority of extended health care plans cover registered massage therapy treatments. So the question then becomes how much coverage do you have? The answer to this is in your insurance policy. Please review your personal extended policy for coverage details. The coverage amounts are usually located under headings titled, “Paramedical” or “Supplementary benefits.” Policies typically have a percentage of coverage or up to a dollar amount (eg. 80% coverage up to a total of $500 per calendar year). Our treatment fees are due at the end of each treatment and reimbursement from your extended health care plan is your responsibility. We will issue you a receipt with our personal health care provider number required for reimbursement.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

You do not need a referral from your family doctor to see a registered massage therapist. Please be aware, however, that some insurance companies require you to have a doctor’s referral before they will cover treatments. Please contact your individual policy holder for details.

Do you accept MSP / ICBC / WCB referrals / Cases?

Yes, but because we are an opted out clinic, we bill our services at our clinic rate. It is then your responsibility to receive full/part payment back from ICBC or WCB. Talk to your adjuster to be clear on exactly what they will cover and your coverage end date. Some therapists deal with insurance companies through direct billing. Please refer to detailed introduction of each therapist.

What payment method do you accept?

Currently, we accept cash, cheque, and Interac e-Transfer only at time of treatment.
